Though I’m a fan of e-cards, and Facebook’s birthday list has saved my behind a few times, I do love an old fashioned hand-written card. They’re personal, special and you can’t delete them. If you love sending cards the old fashioned way, you’ll love JackCards.com.
THE FREEBIE:
Three lucky MommaSaid readers will win a $20 gift card to Jack Cards!
WHY THAT’S COOL
Founded by two friends—Katherine Santer and Kim Dowds- Jack Cards is designed for busy people who value sending a handwritten birthday, anniversary or ‘miss you’ card but find it hard to get to a card shop or post office on time. In just three simple steps, you can rest easy, knowing that you’ll never miss another holiday, anniversary, graduation or friend’s birthday again.
First you sign-up as a Jack Cards member (FREE!) and add important dates. Then, browse the online store and pick the perfect cards – everything from modern designs to hilarious observations, beautiful creations and kid-friendly styles. Finally, you select your address and stamp options. Jack Cards remembers important dates for you, addresses and stamps your envelopes and delivers each card to your home or office, just in time for you to personalize and send.
“A handwritten card can be the simplest yet most memorable way you can share a moment, a thought, a toast with a friend – a paper greeting card is a very personal gift that can be kept and cherished for years,” said Katherine Santer, Co-Founder of Jack Cards. “Jack Cards makes it easy for people to surprise and delight their friends with uniquely hip, witty and beautifully crafted cards they wouldn’t find in the local drugstore.”
Jack Cards makes it easy to keep our etiquette in check and stay thoughtful despite our busy days.
HOW TO ENTER: Leave a comment under this blog post telling us who you’d send actual paper greeting cards to for your chance to win. Three winners will be chosen at random by Random.org.
DEADLINE: Monday, March 15th at noon ET.
OPEN TO U.S. RESIDENTS ONLY. ONE ENTRY PER E-MAIL ADDRESS. (MULTIPLES WILL BE DELETED.)
Note: MommaSaid received no swag or goodies beyond the giveaways for the winners. She’s just nice that way.

Next week is National Sleep Awareness Week. We at MommaSaid want you to be aware that there is sleep, even if you’re not getting any. At the end of the week, we will spring forward our clocks for Daylight Saving Time – and lose an entire hour of sleep.
Sigh.
THE FREEBIE:
WHAT’S THE PRIZE?
A free Good Nite Lite (www.goodnitelite.com), valued at $34.99. It’s a behavioral modification device that features a friendly, glowing caricature face that changes from a Moon to a Sun at the programmed “wake-up” time, and from a Sun to a Moon at the programmed “bedtime. Plus, signed copies of Jen Singer’s books, “Stop Second-Guessing Yourself — The Toddler Years” and “Stop Second Guessing Yourself — The Preschool Years,” 2010 gold Mom’s Choice Award winners, both with chapters on finding that elusive sleep.
CoolMomPicks.com reviewed Jen’s books, saying, “Jen has bestowed us with the rare parenting guides that actually give parents the shot of confidence we need to survive another day. Or sometimes, just another five minutes.”
WHY THAT’S COOL:
The Good Nite Lite can help parents and their kids make the transition smoothly, learning healthy and acceptable sleeping habits. With the help of their parents, children rapidly come to associate the moon image with the knowledge that it is still bedtime and the sun with the idea that it is the correct time to wake up. During the day, the Good Nite Lite automatically shuts off to eliminate any distractions and to conserve energy. Created by a father after his children would wake up at 5:00 a.m. every morning, regardless of what time they went to bed, the Good Nite Lite is available at www.GoodNiteLite.com for just $34.99. While the Good Nite Lite was not designed to aid children with special needs, it has also been a great tool for assisting individuals and families who have been affected by poor sleep (autism, hearing impairment, etc).
And Jen’s writing has been known to make coffee come out of moms’ noses on occasion.
HOW YOU CAN WIN: Post a comment under this blog telling us which you’d rather do, lose an hour or gain one, and why.
DEADLINE: Noon ET on Monday, March 8th. A winner will be selected at random by Random.org. Good luck!

- Share with us your favorite red thing in the comments below for your chance to win this Go Red package from the American Heart Association.
I don’t jump behind just any old cause. Besides, you know my “thing” is cancer, because, well, my thing was cancer. But then this came across my in-box, and I just had to get involved.
Did you know that one in three women die of heart disease compared to 1 in 30 for breast cancer? Me neither. In fact, cardiovascular disease kills approximately 450,000 women each year, about one per minute. To raise awareness, the American Heart Association has declared today, February 5, 2010, National Wear Red Day. Wear something red today to help get the word out, including these important facts, courtesy of the American Heart Association: (more…)

Actually, this year it’s a race car, and I’ve got one to give away, courtesy of the folks at Hess. You may recall that I’d asked for two, so I could give the second one to the pediatric oncology floor at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey. But supplies were limited, so I’m going to buy one to give to the hospital and give the freebie to one lucky reader here at MommaSaid.net.
Here’s how you can get your chance to win: (more…)
